Your baby's development

Your baby in week 10 is still growing quickly. Your baby's face is clearer now; you can clearly see the upper lip and two pretty little nostrils. The ears have started to form clearly, along with the ear canals.

Your baby's jawbone continues to develop with all the buds of the milk teeth. The stomach has started to produce digestive juices. The kidneys have also grown bigger and are producing urine. Bones and cartilage are forming; the knees and elbows are clear. Your little one is growing so fast, isn't it?

Your body

Hopefully you are no longer too worn out by morning sickness at this stage. 80-90% of pregnant women experience morning sickness, so hang in there. Your uterus has now doubled in size compared with normal, about the size of a small grapefruit, so your bump is clearly showing.

You will see your veins more clearly. They are the winding blue lines in places such as your tummy, arms, legs, breasts...This happens because your body is starting to increase blood circulation to match your baby's growth

Advice for you

You can keep snacks you find easy to eat in your bag, such as biscuits, ginger sweets, milk...to ease the unpleasant nausea and vomiting. You can also take vitamin B6, which has been shown to reduce morning sickness very well. If your morning sickness is severe, such as vomiting everything no matter what you eat, you may become dehydrated and lose weight, so you need to see a doctor.

If you are constipated, have a look at the following ways to relieve it. Limit foods such as white bread and pasta. Eat plenty of fibre from wholegrains, apricots, peaches, pears, apples, blueberries, peaches, vegetables and nuts. Being active also makes digestion easier.
