Your baby's development

Weighing about 70 grams and about 10cm long, the size of a pear. Your baby's body keeps growing compared with last week. The eyes, nose, mouth and ears are gradually becoming more refined. Your baby's eyelids are still closed but can gradually sense light from outside. Your baby can also hear sounds both inside and outside your tummy.

Your body

You have reached week 15 of pregnancy. This is the stage when you need to gain more weight. The ideal weight gain is 0.3 - 0.5kg per week to ensure a healthy pregnancy.

Red, swollen or bleeding gums may appear at this stage. This is also caused by pregnancy hormones. Take extra care of your teeth and mouth, and choose a soft toothbrush to avoid damaging your teeth.

You may have heartburn and indigestion; this can be eased by eating several small meals a day instead of 2 – 3 meals.

Some mums also feel dizzy and may faint. Sitting down and getting into a position as if you were tying your shoelaces will help prevent fainting. Mild pulling pains in the lower tummy also happen from time to time

You may be forgetful, even forgetting your doctor's appointments ( use Momby's reminder feature! ). This is because during pregnancy your brain cells decrease, not by much, but enough to affect your memory and thinking a little.

Advice for you

Remember to have a light snack before exercising. Make breakfast a priority. There isn't much specific advice for this time, but what you need is positive, optimistic thinking and a sensible amount of rest. Momby is sharing in your happiness right now. Let's carry on the journey together. Momby believes that if your baby could talk, they would want to say the same thing, though of course more briefly, like I love you, Mummy.
